What Am I Doing Now?
(Updated January 10, 2026, from home in La Seu d'Urgell, Catalunya)
Snowy Start To Winter
Most entries here reflect recent updates on the professional track. But the personal track is a wonderful part of this journey too. And the mix of snowy and cold weather here in the Pyrenees created outstanding opportunities to play outside during the holiday season - beautiful conditions around my home for cross-country skiing and showshoe walks. Sharing a few photos from our outings over the past few weeks, which are also great reminders that Catalunya is SO MUCH more than Barcelona... our mountains, rivers, trails, seaside and waves create the one of the world's best natural landscapes and playgrounds. If you're ready to explore, let me know!
On a professional note, I'll soon be sharing an update about plans for coaching in 2026. For now, enjoy the snow!❄️

The Annual Wave-Finding Pilgrimage
Every December, we travel to Tarifa, Spain for some Waves, a change of perspective, deep dives with Coach Boyan, and lots of fun and laughs. This year didn't disappoint. Although this trip is blocked out as a "personal time," the elements of professional development and reset always surface during these days in Tarifa. Now, new Thinking In Waves essays are in development and different perspectives are finding their way into coaching collaborations.
Sharing here a few sights and sounds from our Tarifa trip via Instagram - the long side-by-side surf is Maria and me in the double alongside Coach Boyan in the single - a truly joyful moment from this past year. Click on the image below to see the reel:

What an amazing group of humans with whom to share such an experience. For a little more from the Strait of Gibraltar from Coach Boyan's perspective, click on the image below:

Think Like An Olympic Champion
With lots of new podcast guest conversations publishing recently, I think this one with Josh Zolin on Everything They Don't Tell You Podcast is going stick with viewers and listeners for a while. It's a little longer than usual (97 minutes) but the themes, ideas, reflections, and prompts are clear and transformative.

Navigating Midlife Transitions
No matter the state of our Inner Voice, sometimes clues appear that vividly reveal the path that led us to here. When these clues arrive, they can be reinforcing and motivating.. or confronting and challenging. Either way, these clues are helpful.
For me, the past few weeks have brought new life themes into focus. The enjoyment found in experimenting with these themes has been outstanding, which made revisiting the path that led to this beautiful period of experimentation more interesting - specifically, my guest appearance on Selling From The Heart Podcast. This conversation dives into:
- Checking in on the process of getting out of my head
- How can we Redefine High Performance
- Highlighting the path to, “What brought me to HERE?”
- What is Midlife Peak Performance?
Lots of wonderful context-setting and actionable prompts here that can help people who are thinking about and working through transition. Watch on YouTube by clicking on the photo below or listen on Apple Podcasts --> HERE.

Finding Flow Around The Podcast Campfire🔥
I've never liked the idea of Halls of Fame for whitewater paddlersports. Of course there are incredible stories, performers, and lessons learned that need to be heard and felt by the kayaking community. But this will never happen in a museum setting.. However, maybe something more like around a campfire.
Brad Burden's new B-Flow Sessions podcast does exactly this. So, I was thrilled and honored to share a few stories with Brad as a guest on his podcast about the incredible leaders, coaches, and teammates who have contributed to my beautiful life in paddlesports.
This was conversation felt like a beautiful gift. Please enjoy on Apple Podcasts --> HERE. (Or click on the image below.)

In Front Of A Live Audience
Speaking in front of a group is something I used to do a lot. But since moving to Catalunya eight years ago, I've only done this just a few times... which made presenting to the Barcelona chapter of Entrepreneur's Organization a special experience for all of us. We dug into the what gets lost and misunderstood in the term, "High Performance," and how we can redefine in a way that works best of us... with a little more simplicity, connection, and kindness.
Collaborating in person with leaders and teams like EO Barcelona in the spirit of growth, connection, and transformation is something I enjoy and look forward to doing more in the future. If you would like to explore developing such a collaboration, let's talk!
(Since this presentation, one of the leaders in the group shared a special recap of the event on LinkedIn. Check it out --> HERE.)

Collaborations
Two collaborations in which I'm investing more time, energy, and resources are:
- The Outlier Project: This networking group based in the United States and founded by my friend, Scott MacGregor, is growing by leaps and bounds. So much so that Scott assembled a team of regional ambassadors to simplify and localize the member experience. I agreed to serve as the international ambassador to support our members living outside the US and Canada (like me.)
- Rios Lodge: This remote riverside retreat on Costa Rica's Pacuare River makes me smile every day... because of the smiles and reviews I see from our guests. I joined the ownership group of Rios Lodge a few years ago and since then, I've watched our leadership make improvements that are as good for the land as they are for our guests. The majority of our clients are retreat leaders who want to immerse their groups in Costa Rica's lush rain forest and enjoy a space that fosters disconnection and transformation. I look forward to hosting my own retreats here soon!
