Canoe/Kayak on TV: Technology On Our Side

I just finished calling the 2009 Whitewater World Cup races in France, Slovakia and Germany without ever leaving Chattanooga. How did I do it?

    Hi Joe

Great job calling the World Cup races, I have only see the one from France but this is a good step in the right direction. What’s your take on the first Womens C1 World Cup races, we need more women racing from more nations.

Thanks, Mike, and thanks for being way ahead of the curve on taking the idea of telling slalom’s story into your own hands! Your early videos about technique and the pursuing excellence were and are awesome!

Completely agree about womens canoeing. Right now, some of the guiding conversation coming from people who are around the sport on a daily level centers around ability, performance, etc. For me, one mantra guides my feelings about womens canoeing is simply that simply the right thing to do.

I actually will have two video blogs coming soon about womens canoeing – one a profile about 15 year-old Hailey Thompson who will be racing C1 for the US at the Worlds and one about my feelings about the evolution of the category. Incidentally, the inclusion of womens canoeing is one of the primary reasons my family and I are coming to the Worlds in La Seu in September. Hope you’ll consider doing a video with me there :)
