ABOUT
Joe Jacobi is the Executive Director of USA Canoe/Kayak, the sport’s national and Olympic governing body and connection to some of the coolest canoe/kayak events in the world. He works closely with the sport’s stakeholders to raise the profile, opportunities and quality of competitive paddlesports, its participants and venues. For more information about this, please contact Joe directly HERE.
Bio
In 1992, Joe Jacobi teamed with Scott Strausbaugh to win America’s first-ever Olympic Gold Medal in Whitewater Canoe Slalom.
Twelve years later, Joe returned to the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens as an athlete, finishing a career which included paddling rivers in more than twenty countries and thousands of competitive experiences that shaped his “Gold Medal Life.”
Racing for speed down-river while negotiating boulder-strewn rapids in carbon canoes against the world’s top athletes taught Joe incredible lessons for real-life issues such as taking risk, building trust and appreciating the journey.
Joe made everyday life choices by the code and principles of the Olympic movement and a simple life equation emerged:
Life Lessons from the River + Olympic Values = Gold Medal Living
In this next phase, Joe Jacobi’s philosophy and ideals about winning and succeeding in sport are the blueprint for enjoying and sharing a host of exciting activities, interests, and pursuits – with meaning and purpose while keeping it fun.
